Our Mission
EmpowerVets is dedicated to supporting veterans who are facing mental health challenges and contemplating suicide by organizing recreational activities and social gatherings. Our primary objective is to alleviate depression, stress, and anxiety among veterans, while also fostering their self-assurance and facilitating social interactions within their community.
What is "Recreational Therapy"?
Recreational therapy, also referred to as therapeutic recreation, is a structured approach that employs recreational and activity-based interventions to cater to the evaluated requirements of individuals with mental illnesses and/or disabling conditions. Its primary objective is to enhance psychological and physical well-being, facilitate recovery, and promote overall health. Additionally, "Recreational Therapy" denotes a therapeutic service aimed at reinstating, remedying, and rehabilitating an individual's ability to engage in daily life activities, fostering independence, and minimizing the limitations and constraints imposed by mental illness or a disabling condition.
